Lumber Packages

Log Shell Package

The log shell package includes all of the log elements included in the structure of the home. Handcraft log shells typically include log walls, floor joists, posts, beams, ridge beams, purlins, railings, stairs and trusses where required. Handcraft log shells are fully pre-assembled during manufacture.

Machined Profile log shells typically include only log walls but can also include timber posts, beams, ridge beams and purlins. All log shells include notching, pre-drilling for electrical and through-bolts, cut-outs and keying for doors and windows and cut-outs for electrical boxes. Individual walls of machine profile shells are pre-assembled to check for fit and accuracy.

Lock-up or Close-in Package

Typically this package includes the log shell plus the materials necessary to close-in or weather-proof the building (above the main floor system*): windows and doors (crated), exterior gable and dormer framing and sheathing, loft floor joists and sub floor, roof joists and sheathing, building paper, roofing felt, roofing material, exterior siding, interior paneling (walls and ceiling), window and door trim, soffit paneling, fascia trim and, for machine profile buildings, stairs and railings, posts, beams, ridge beams and purlins.

* Logistically, it is best to have the foundation and main floor finished prior to delivery of the log shell and close-in package.
